On the sidebar again, click "Add a Gadget." You are looking for the one that is named "Image." This is how you will put your character's picture on the sidebar.

How to put related links on your sidebar
In the "Layout" editing page, look at your three columns already on the right hand side (Followers, Blog Archive, About Me). Above those, you will see a button that says "Add Gadget." Click that. It gives you several options to choose from, but you are looking specifically for one that is titled "Link List." Once you've added that to your sidebar, you will be able to add links to your character's favorite websites.
